Preparing people for transition to a higher level of management is a challenge for which many companies are ill prepared.
The sheer pressure of "business as usual" and the often unqualified assumption of "natural capabilities" leads to people moving into new roles very much under-prepared. In which case it is very likely that they will perform well beneath their true potential and fail to meet everyone’s expectations.
This programme is tailored to meet any such shortfall. It is intended to align the learning that we believe is imperative with the best of what clients already have. In particular, it works well with a client’s own in-house talent management programmes.
Our task is to design and deliver progressive levels of quality to better prepare individuals whenever and wherever transition management occurs.
Naturally, the workshops that form the heart of this programme are run for groupings of people who are already at the required level of experience for the transition ahead. For example, those who are moving from "managing others" to "managing managers", or who are being tasked to perform at higher levels as "functional heads of department".
Transition Management is a 3-module programme is tailored to meet the exact performance level of those people in the “Leadership Pipeline”. In addition, each participant has 5 hours of coaching interspersed across the programme over a 6-month period.
The programme runs over 9-months with advance preparation and coaching after completing Module 3. Action Learning sets are included throughout.
It is also the perfect inhouse programme for companies and organisations that are preparing selected personnel to transition to the next level of management within 1-2 years.
Programme features
The programme covers the following content:
Module 1: 2 days
Foundation behavioural awareness in preparation for understanding the challenges of the next level. Key capabilities are reviewed alongside gap analysis set against a Personal Transition matrix and readiness review.
Module 2: 2 days
Further skills development including influencing, trust building, “complete communication”, further capability gap reviews and action planning.
Module 3: 1 day
Total programme review, tools and technique checks role simulation and action planning.
Who should attend?
This is an in-house programme for companies/organisations who have identified individuals at different career levels, but who, within 1-2 years will be ready to transition to the next management level, or make the changes required to function more skilfully in current roles en route to stepping up to new business and operational challenges.
