Performance Coaching™

TPI have been coaching individuals and teams from and within our global client base for many years. Increasingly, we have been engaged in fostering a coaching culture to meet the diverse range of learning and development solutions that clients now have to deliver.

Our approach to the corporate and personal requirements is based on blending the tools, models and techniques used by the world's best coaches, into a highly interactive series of workshops and other deliverables that can be easily measured.

TPI has successfully built a cluster of techniques that challenge how coaching and training is delivered in a corporate context. Our modular approach means that participants at various levels of capability can use the training material instantly to enhance their current performance.

It is TPI's real world experience that provides such a formidable learning base on which powerful coaching and training can be developed and delivered.

Specifically this covers:

  1. Needs and expectations.
  2. Common coaching challenges.
  3. Challenging coaching models.
  4. Common coaching pitfalls and mistakes.
  5. Ways to empower and measure change.

How training is delivered

Element One - Coaching to Drive High Performance

(2 day workshop)

Pre-work

In order to begin the workshop at the relevant pace some preparatory groundwork is essential, covering:

  • Pre-work - core reading, coaching activity and observation.
  • Online survey - collecting views, opinions, expectations and needs of the participants.
  • Pre-workshop connection - a 30-minute pre-commencement conference call to connect the participant group, create momentum and set the tone.

The Workshop

Such is the nature of TPI Coach Training workshops that they can be delivered to participant groups of 12 to 16 participants, or in larger interactive groups of 16 to 60. The workshop includes:

  • Core Competencies - the 6 pillars of great coaching.
  • The Role of the Coach - who you are and what you are not; setting, understanding and working with boundaries
  • Coaching Models - working models to bring coaching conversations 'to life' and transform random and general thinking into intention and Positive Personal Action™.
  • The Coaching Process - a clear understand of the coaching journey, how it changes pace, tone and style, using the silence, speaking the truth, sharing what's there, going further and gaining commitment and validation.
  • Coaching Mistakes - the most common pitfalls, why they occur, how to avoid them and how to outmanoeuvre them.
  • Coaching tools - developing an effective personal toolkit.
  • Coaching Measures - identifying the metrics of confirmation (including remedial change as needed), agreeing the scope of the coaching relationship, and examining how both coach and coached can evaluate the success of the partnership.

Workshops are highly interactive and include many breakout sessions, encouraging the participants to interact as much as possible in trios, or in quads, under analytical observation.

Follow-Up Workshops

Follow up workshops support the learning and create a 'safe' place in which the Core Coaches can share and review their experiences.

The follow-up workshop covers:

  • Revisiting the Core Competencies - A self-score of performance and evaluation of coaching take out.
  • Coaching Feedback - Where it is and how to gather and use it.
  • What next? - Identifying where their personal coach development plan lies and how it can be further developed.
  • My Coaching Style - Understanding the uniqueness of your own style of coaching and breaking the mould of pattern coaching to deliver a coaching process that is challenging, satisfying and successful.
  • Stretching & Challenging - Going beyond what is easy to deliver to develop the courage and sensitivity to be provocative within the confines of target and brief.

Element Two - Optional Workshops for Coach Development

Once the foundation has been established, this is the ideal time to enhance core capability training through specific content that meets:

Who should attend?

Anyone who is required to influence, manage and direct the performance and skills of others.

How your organisation benefits

Skilled and sensitive coaches are hard to find and expensive to hire. That is what makes the opportunity to raise the performance levels of your own coaching staff so compelling.

In effect, you are skilling your staff to deliver and perform at an increasingly higher level and, at the same time, enabling them to transmit their sensitivities and business values and their drive and purpose to others within and outside of your organisation.

What is the delivery format?

The following graphic illustrates the workshop process that we adopt as well as the tools that we use to reinforce learning in the workplace. As with all of our solutions the final approach will be precisely tailored to your unique requirements.
